Tasting Notes
Deep plum red in colour and of brilliant clarity. The nose rich and shows dark berry fruits combined with chocolate and vanillin oak. The palate is full bodied with flavours of blackcurrant and chocolate and is well supported with fine-grained grape tannins. The finish is long and with well balanced acidy.
Cellaring
2 – 4 years from release date: March 2007
Winemaking Notes
This wine was fermented in open top vats with twice-daily hand plunging followed by pressing and malo lactic in tank. Oak maturation has been kept to a minimum to enhance fruit flavours while still providing some oak sweetness and tannin. Prior to bottling this wine was fined with skim milk and lightly filtered.
Viticultural Notes
2003 was warm and dry producing fruit with excellent colour and flavour.
