“Yellow fruit profile here, with a slight matchstick, hazelnut and spice. It’s nutty and subtly saline, a light pear skin grip, and the texture here is really quite lovely with its chalky feel, the finish is savoury, yet cool, and quite long, with a discreet level of bitterness. Charming.”

Tasting Notes: This wine has layered and bright aromas of citrus blossom, blanched almond with some subtle & fine oak with a maritime/sea-side essence to it. It is a textural wine with some grip from fine phenolics typical of this site. Flavours are of grapefruit and oatmeal which fill the palate and extend with some expressive brisk acidity giving great length and, as such, offers great cellar potential.
Winemaking Notes: Hand-picked on the 21st of February
Vinification & Elevage: Fruit is whole bunch pressed with full juice solids to mix of French Oak barriques and puncheons (30% new) for fermentation. Wine is sulphured without any malolactic conversion or further lees stirring. 10 months on lees in oak.
Viticultural Notes: The fruit for this single vineyard Chardonnay is grown on our Isabella’s vineyard on Briarty Road vineyard in Gruyere.
Optimal conditions for both flowering and fruitset in the vineyards gave well balanced yields with plenty of promise leading into the 2019 harvest. A dry January and February followed, culminating in a relatively compressed vintage, though attention to detail in the vineyards gave winemakers wonderfully balanced fruit with concentration of flavour and exceptional natural acidity.
