“Artfully made Rhône-inspired Shiraz laced with musky, potpourri-like scents of black and red berries backed by blueberries, dark cherries, underbrush and a hint of smoked meats. Medium to full-bodied, its long, penetrative palate of pristine forest berries and smoky, reductive notes are underpinned by fine, powdery tannins and culminate in a long, savoury finish with a mineral aspect.”
- Jeremy Oliver 2018
Tasting Notes: Deep purple back blended with ruby red tones. Rich plum fruits with rocky aromas garnished with herby bracken and pepper spice. These fruit aromas are augmented with sweet, clovey opulent oak. A full wine with a rich core of dark fruits throughout. Stony tannins drive through the mid to back palate with persistence and a rich, toasty oak finish completes this warm winter red.
Winemaking Notes: The 2018 harvest will be remembered fondly by winemakers. It was a rare season that gave above average yields and excellent quality fruit. Dry sunny conditiond with cool overnight temperatures provided good natural acidity and concentrated wines.
Viticultural Notes: The Heathcote wine region in Victoria is renowned as one of Australia's premier regions forSyrah. Located north of the Great Dividing Range, Heathcote is 90 minutes north of Melbourne with an altitude of 200 metres. These ancient Cambrian soils are deep red coloured and mottled with lime which imparts low vigor to the vines. The fruit for this wine is sourced from the Northern end of Heathcote.
