Rochford Estate 'la Droite' Merlot Cabernet 2020

Special: $20.00
RRP: $33.00
This wine is inspired by the traditional blend of Bordeaux’s ‘Right Bank’ where the predominate variety is Merlot, we celebrate our interpretation of this blend here in the Yarra Valley.
The Rochford Estate range showcases all the elegance and flavour intensity you come to expect in the Yarra Valley, resulting in wines that show well young, but age gracefully.
Tasting Notes: An inviting nose of baked plum, clove, blackcurrant and roast chestnuts. The palate features similar fruits with liquorice, black olive and crunchy tannins.
Winemaking Notes: From the 18th to the 24th March
Vinification & Elevage: Fruit is sorted and fully de-stemmed as whole berries, 5 day cold soak prior to primary fermentation on skins for 14 days. The wine is pressed to French oak (10% new) and receives a "spring racking" following its malolactic conversion and is then returned to oak for a total maturation period of 10 months.
Viticultural Notes: 2020 was a long and cool growing season in the Yarra Valley. Winter rains were substantial and by the end of spring we had full and healthy vine canopies. The conditions around flowering were challenging leading to low fruit yields. The season progressed with very mild conditions extending the ripening period for harvest well into Autumn for some varieties. The 2020 wines reflect our part of the world and our cool climate.
